Classroom privacy

What the application stores

Teacher account email and name, student username, optional school email and display name, enrollment, submitted answers, uploaded work, scores, feedback, curriculum and generated materials. Usernames, work and grades are protected classroom records. AI review history includes rubric versions, evidence quotations, teacher edits and approval records.

Private teacher workspaces

Each invited teacher has a separate workspace. Teachers cannot browse another teacher's classes, students, grades or private materials. The original Tichele workspace remains available to Tichele and the 2C Production owner to preserve existing work and support access. Platform owners control teacher account access. A signed-in student sees only their own available lessons and results.

Sharing lessons

Teachers can deliberately publish a curriculum snapshot to the teacher-only library. The library does not include rosters, submissions, grades, source PDFs or private uploaded slide images. Teachers must remove personal information and ensure they have sharing rights for the teaching text. Importing a library lesson creates a separate editable copy. Removing a listing does not delete copies other teachers already imported.

AI and service providers

When a teacher generates or revises teaching material, the selected curriculum and instructions are sent to the first available configured provider in the owner-controlled rotation: OpenAI, DeepSeek, then Google Gemini by default. DeepSeek is used only for text-only requests; file and image requests skip to a provider that supports that evidence. When a teacher explicitly authorizes AI grading, selected student responses and, if enabled, submitted files may be sent to one of those configured providers with the rubric.

Roster names, emails and original filenames are not automatically added to grading requests, but students may include identifying information in their own work. Teachers must obtain school authorization and avoid sensitive content. AI reviews are private drafts until a teacher approves and releases the score and student feedback. OpenAI requests set store:false; each provider has its own processing and retention terms, so this is not a promise of zero provider retention.

Sites and its infrastructure providers host the application, database and storage. Google provides basic identity for sign-in. Connecting Google Classroom is a separate teacher-authorized action with additional permissions. It does not grant TeachMosaic access to Gmail.

Private teaching-coach recordings

Classroom recording begins only after the signed-in teacher confirms that required notice and permission are complete. A visible recording indicator remains on screen. The browser uploads small audio segments to private storage so an interrupted phone connection can resume. Audio-capable providers are OpenAI and Google Gemini; DeepSeek is skipped for transcription.

After a segment is successfully transcribed, TeachMosaic attempts to delete its raw audio immediately. The transcript evidence is encrypted separately with an application vault key and retained so the signed-in teacher can request a new analysis after changing coaching sources. It is not returned by the application API and has no transcript view or download. The server decrypts it in memory only during a teacher- authorized analysis. The teacher can permanently erase that evidence while keeping prior reports, or delete the entire session. If processing is interrupted, temporary audio can remain until the teacher retries or deletes the session. Coaching reports are formative evidence summaries, not official appraisals, diagnoses or proof that an event did not occur.

Administrator feedback, framework notes, authorized excerpts and source files added to the coaching library remain private to the teacher workspace. Teachers must have permission to upload and process them. A web link alone is not treated as analyzed evidence.

Retention and school use

Records remain stored until the owner arranges deletion. Closing a lesson preserves work and grade history. Requests for deletion must cover uploaded files, submissions and associated grading reviews. Schools must authorize the service and establish student-data terms before enrolling real students. This release does not claim district approval or independent compliance certification.

Teacher judgment

AI suggestions can be wrong. Teachers check sources, answer keys, rubrics, accessibility and final grades. Objective quiz arithmetic remains separate from rubric-based AI suggestions. Unreadable files and unsupported evidence require teacher inspection.
